Laser Surgery

The veterinarians at Bell County Animal Clinic are proud to utilize the latest services and techniques offered in animal health. There are three major advantages of laser surgery when compared to traditional stainless steel surgical scalpels:

  • decreased pain
  • reduced bleeding and blood loss
  • reduced risk of infection

Decreased pain is achieved by the nerve endings being sealed when the laser cuts through the tissue. Reduced bleeding occurs because the laser cauterizes the blood vessels in the tissue. Infection is greatly reduced because the high heat of the laser kills any bacteria present.

The most common surgeries that utilize laser are soft tissue surgeries. Bell County Animal Clinic uses laser most commonly for neutering and spay surgeries. There are numerous other surgeries that can also be performed with laser. The veterinarian will discuss with you if laser surgery is the best approach before scheduling any procedures on your pet.
